About me
George Kevin Jordan is a Washington D.C.-based writer with more than 25 years of experience. He learned the fundamentals of reporting while chasing fires and covering homicides for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel back in the early 1990s.
He served as lead instructor for HumanitiesDC’s Community Journalism Program in Summer 2024. Previously, he served as Editor-in-Chief for Greater Greater Washington, Managing Editor for SOULE.LGBT, and Editorial Director for Bleu Magazine. He has freelanced for more than a dozen publications including TheBody, Ebony Magazine, The Washington Afro-American Newspaper, and Construction Dive.
He penned two novels, “That Moment When” and “Hopeless,” for Urban Soul/Kensingston Publishing. His fiction works and essays have been featured in Jaded Ibis Press, Apogee, and more. He has been a fellow at Voices of our Nation (VONA), Kimbilio Fiction, and Tin House.
He loves writing about climate, transit equity, travel, and LGBTQ issues.
